1. Keep Us Comfortable Anywhere
Sleeping in a seat could be hard, especially in a moving transportation. I often step into my sleeping bag and wrap myself up like a cocoon while traveling long distance on the bus, train or plane. It keeps me warm and comfortable, easier to fall asleep. Bonus if you have an inflated travel pillow.2. Keep Us Safe
Well, I am sure you have heard of sexual assaults on buses and trains. A sleeping bag could help minimize that risk. Predators always go for easy preys. Thus, if you are in a sleeping bag, it is harder for creeps to get you.3. Layer Up
Too cold but there is nothing we can do about it? No problem, I’ll just slip into my sleeping bag.4. Cut Cost
Some budget hostels do not provide free bed linens and blankets, you will have to rent them. By traveling with a sleeping bag, you will be able to save some money.5. Cleanliness
When I first started out solo-traveling, I used to reserve the cheapest dorm bed (5-7 Euro per night) in the city. Some of them looked really run down and questionable, some even look like refugee camps. Imagine how relieved I felt when I know I still have a sleeping bag to fall on to (I still used their mattress, just not their bed sheets).6. Keep Bugs Away
We have all been there, frantically waving our hands in the air to chase those annoying mosquitos away. To avoid mosquito bites at night, just go into your sleeping bag, zip it up and apply some insect repellent to your face (and hopefully it works).7. Embark on Adventures
I will never go tent-camping without a sleeping bag. Some of my friends couldn’t leave their air mattress at home but for me, a high-quality sleeping bag is sufficient. Once when I camped near Bryce Canyon in Utah, USA, temperature fell beneath the freezing point in the wee hours. My sleeping bag saved my life.

I almost always travel with one but I have to confess, I find it heavy and rarely use it. Sleeping Bag compressors are useful things!
