       Jeju is literally the motherland of mountains and sea. Well, I think by now, you guys are already having Mount Halla and Seongsan Illchubong in mind, that’s good, you are thinking… hah! but what else are there?
       2 words: Majestic waterfalls and today this blog post will be about Jeongbang waterfalls-- what to expect, admission fee, how to get there, what to expect and some interesting facts!

       Jeju island is not called the “Hawaii of South Korea” for nothing. This “treasure island” possess some magnificent nature wonders with unbelievable scenic views and one of the most popular activity on Jeju island is chasing waterfalls. Today we will dive into the Cheongjiyeon Waterfall. No, not literally, I am too old for all these crazy adventures.

       “Cheon” means heaven, “Je” means king, and “Yeon” means pond. Cheonjeyeon Wateralls (천제연폭포), bears the meaning of ‘The pond of Emperor of Heaven’. It has 3 tiers in total. The legend behind Cheonjeyeon Falls is on how seven fairies serving the Emperor of Heaven would slide down from the heavens every night via a violet colored moon beam and bathe in the waterfall's pond.

Talking about unmissable spots in Jeju Island, I think Camellia Hill deserves a spot in the list. Since its opening about30 years ago, this wonderful, enchanted enclose has become one of the most popular tourist attractions in Jeju and it is named one of the most visited botanical gardens in all of South Korea.

       I initially plan to take a taxi from my accommodation, which is less than 5 minutes away, but my host insisted on sending me and my brother there. So a big thank you to her and Jeju hospitality!
Pro tip: Come on a weekday because the place will get really crowded from 10 am onwards, especially if you bang into tourist groups on weekends!

Jeju Itinerary: visit the Daepo Jusangjeolli Cliff 대포주상절리

        Is this the Giant’s Causeway in Northern Ireland? or merely my imagination right out of the Games of Throne? No, but the Daepo Jusangjeolli Cliff 대포주상절리 at the Southern Coast of Jeju Island is still one of a kind spectacular. In fact, it is also one of Jeju’s most famous tourist spots.

Oedolgae Rock (외돌개), Jeju Island , South Korea

        The Oedolgae, is also known as the Changgun Rock, Oedolgae means General and why on earth that the Koreans name it that way? Korean Legend says that during the war times, a general disguised the rock as a gigantic general in order to ward off Mongolian attacks. And it (surprisingly) worked! The enemy troops were so frightened by what they saw; all of them committed suicide! To honour the victory, the rock was henceforth known as Oedolgae Rock.

Jeju Island, South Korea: 5 Days 4 Nights Itinerary

       For as long as I remember, Jeju island did not make it into my travel bucket list, for whatever reason I might have. But a week before entering 2019, a wild idea stroked me: I have to escape in the name of a spontaneous trip, anywhere as long as I can be on a plane (well don’t ask me since when I’ve developed this love for flying). I browsed on the AirAsia website and immediately locked my eyes on Jeju. Not only because the fare was quite reasonable but also, I simply have to end my “prejudice” towards Korea. and so, I’ve booked the ticket almost instantly, packed my bags and fervently pray for 4 days to pass by in a blink of an eye. Next, I’ll have 5 days in Jeju Island! How exciting!
