The Port of Nagoya Public Aquarium is one of Japan's largest aquarium, featuring exquisite marine life that live in 5 sea zones from Japan to the Atlantic including bottle nose dolphins, killer whales, beluga whales, and many more.
Stepping into the Port of Nagoya Public Aquarium realizes my dream being an actual mermaid. The large Kuroshio tank really gives me the under-the-sea feel when thousand of silver fish swim in formation. The tank symbolizes the seas around Japan, where the Japan and Kuril currents meet.
and on top of all these, guess what, studies show that jellyfish has no brain! Can you imagine that? how do they even facilitate their movement, meals or breathing??? well thats a myth! Do you know that the deep sea floor covers about two thirds of the earth's surface hence, in this extensive biosphere, we had fun learning about those mysterious creatures and their behaviors.
Whats next in my favorite list? undoubtedly, the Antarctic marine life- penguin encounter! Don’t you know penguins are the cutest birds alive? Do you know why they have dark fur at the back but white in the belly? because their hards are too short to reach their back when they are bathing! I’m sorry, that is just a joke.
Before we bid the aquarium goodbye, we made it a point to go back to the north building again to have one last look at the ocean mammals. It was at that moment, we saw an old man playing sudoku with a beluga whale! I wasn't sure how do they communicate but i saw the old man showing the beluga the quadrants and the whale will make certain sound and movement in response to him.... i was too stunned that i forgot to take a video... such precious moment! I thank God for the opportunity to witness it...
My Verdict
If you ask me if it is worth the trip, I would say, yes, definitely. Especially if you have kids. I myself am a kid in heart and I enjoyed this stop very much. How to get there?
The best way to access to the Nagoya Port is by the Meiko Subway Line ( toward Kanayama). The Nagoya Port Public Aquarium is just a 5-minute walk from Exit 3 of Nagoya Station. This 10 minutes ride will cost 240 yen per person.Admission
2000 yen (aquarium only)2400 yen (combo ticket including aquarium and other facilities)
