Suggested time to spend
30 min to 1 hour. From the entrance, it will take you less than 5 minute to reach an observation platform where you can get an unobstructed view of the rock.Though we did not manage to visit Oedolgae during sunset, it has been said that the view during sunset is absolutely breathtaking.
To be honest, the scenery is not a too spectacular one, and it is known to fall short of many visitors' expectations if you search online.
However, if you have the will to keep on walking, there is more beyond the viewing platform. Just follow a well trodden path and you will get directly above the rocks for better photos.
If you are hungry or need some snacks on the way, there will be several snack stations on the way. But whats special about these "stalls" is that, there will not be anyone taking care of the stalls, and you'll just place your money inside a basket in order to purchase something. So the business depends merely on trust (I used to thought this will only happen in the Northern Europe. Looks like I am wrong!).
At the end of the track, you will see a huge billboard of Daejangguem, as one particular scene was shot here. This is the place where Hansangoong faced her death under a false accusation while being carried on the Jangguem’s back. There is even a life-size but out of Daejangguem for those who wish to become the heroin for a photo!
This Joseon Dynasty drama was very popular back in 2003, making it the 10th highest rating Korean drama of all time... a story about an ophaned kitchen cook who went on to become the King’s first female doctor. The theme of the story was girlpower, perseverance, korean tradition, culture, royal cuisine and traditional medicine.

Location
I walked to the Oedolgae Rock all the way from Cheonjiyeon waterfalls. There is a track consists of a long staircase at the other end of the shop lots just in front of the entrance of Cheonjiyeon waterfalls. It took me 15 minutes in the refreshing winter air, very manageable. coz if I were to op for a bus, the waiting time alone will already be 15 minutes. For those who have a car, the Contact Number to key into the Korean GPS: 760-3031
Address: 791, Seohong-dong, Seogwipo-si, Jeju-do
Korean Address: 제주 서귀포시 서홍동 791번지
There are plenty of parking spaces in front of the entrance, but you will need to pay a fee. On the bright side, admission is Free for everyone, such a rare treat!
Arranging itinerary for the day
Firstly, I started my day in JeongBang waterfalls, moving on to Cheonjiyeon waterfalls and Odalgae rock (all by foot). Then, I took a bus to Jusangjeolidae cliffs and from there, I chose to walk 30 minutes to reach Cheonjeyeon waterfalls. I am not interested in other indoor attractions in Jungmun area, but if you are, the best way to end the day is to grab dinner in Jungmun after your visit to Cheonjeyeon and then proceed to Alive Museum Jeju, TeddyBear Museum or the KPoP Play at night. There is a bus stop directly in front of KPoP Play that will send you back to town.Read the full itinerary here
Where to stay
If you wish to stay near JeongBang Waterfalls and walk to all the nearby attractions like what I did, I highly recommend JeongMun Resort (click to check booking.com reviews). Not only that the popular sites like JeongBang (as near as 0.3km! ), Cheonjiyeon and Odgaldae rock (furthest) are within walking distance, it has family rooms to choose from which is great for travelers with kids.Other than that, I saw Artstay Seogwipo Harbor (click to check booking.com review) on my way and thought it could be a cool stay too. It is just within a 10-minute walk from JeongBang, Seogwipo Maeil Olle Market and Lee Jung-Seop Culture Street. Making it an ideal base for travelers interested in waterfalls and local snacks. Plus, each rooms has excellent view of the harbor and you could have the time of your life watching sunset while dipping in your personal bath!
